Beginning the week of October 12, 2026, the Town of Carthage will implement mandatory water restrictions while scheduled maintenance is performed at the Town's water treatment plant. Mandatory water restrictions are expected to remain in effect through December 6, 2026.
Ongoing downtown construction is resulting in temporary road closures, detours, and traffic delays around Carthage. Motorists should use caution, follow posted detour signs, and allow additional travel time when traveling through downtown Carthage.
Carthage and all of Moore County are fortunate to be served by the Moore County Public School System, which ranks among the finest school systems in the region. Carthage is served by several schools, including Union Pines High School, New Century Middle School, Carthage Elementary School and Sandhills Farm Life Elementary School as well as two independent schools. All of our schools are excellent and are served by professional administrators and great teachers with active and involved parents.
