Carthage, NC

Due to significant damage caused by Tropical Storm Chantal, a portion of Summit Street will remain closed to all traffic until further notice. The significant rainfall from the storm has caused structural damage to the roadway, making it unsafe for passage.

Town officials are currently working closely with civil engineers to assess the full extent of the damage and develop a comprehensive plan for repairs and reconstruction. Public safety remains our top priority, and we are committed to restoring the roadway as quickly and safely as possible.

We understand the inconvenience this may cause and appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation during this time. Detour routes will be clearly marked, and updates will be provided regularly through the town’s website, messaging and social media channels.

For questions or concerns, please contact Town Hall at (910) 947-2331.

Until repairs are complete, please avoid this area and follow all posted signage for your safety.
