Portion of Summit Street Remains Closed

Due to significant damage caused by Tropical Storm Chantal, a portion of Summit Street will remain closed to all traffic until further notice. Town officials are currently working closely with civil engineers to assess the full extent of the damage and develop a comprehensive plan for repairs and reconstruction. Public Hearing for Carthage Elementary

On Monday, February 3rd the Moore County School Board is hosting a public hearing at 5:30 pm to receive public input on the superintendent's recommendation for the replacement of Carthage Elementary School. During this time you will hear about the superintendent's recommendation to build a new school on a new site with adequate acreage for present and future needs. Those who would like to speak will be allowed up to six minutes which will be twice the normal amount given for public comments. Board members will be allowed to ask speakers questions.
