In response to forecasted extreme temperatures, Moore County will open a temporary Cooling Station to provide residents with a safe place to cool down during the hottest part of the day.The Cooling Station will be located at the Moore County Sports Complex, 155 Hillcrest Park Lane, Carthage, NC, and will be open Thursday, July 2, through Monday, July 6, from 1:00 - 6:00 pm daily.

The Town of Carthage has issued a Water Shortage Alert and is asking all customers to conserve water. Effective Monday, July 6th, all Class 3 (Non-Essential) Water Uses are prohibited under the Town's Water Shortage Conservation Ordinance. This includes watering lawns, gardens, landscaped areas, parks, and other recreational areas, as well as ornamental ponds and similar features.

The Board of Commissioners for the Town of Carthage have called for a public hearing to be held on July 18, 2022 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the McDonald Building located at 207 McReynolds Street, Carthage, NC to hear a request from SKC Properties, LLC to conditionally zone Parcel # 20070720, a 32.01+/- acre tract located between S. McNeill Street, Rockingham Street and Pinehurst Avenue from R-20 to R-10-CZ for the purpose of developing an 81-lot residential subdivision to be known as McNeill Ridge. UPDATE (7/6): At a special Board of Commissioners meeting held on July 5th the regular schedule of meetings was amended to move the July 18th meeting to July 28th.
UPDATE (7/6): Due to an incomplete application, the public hearing for this subdivision has been removed from the 7/28 meeting and will be recommended for continuation to the August meeting.
