The historical heritage of the Town of Carthage is a valued and important part of the general welfare of our community and the Historic Preservation Commission is tasked with the conservation and preservation of that heritage by safeguarding the heritage of the Town of Carthage by preserving districts and landmarks that embody important elements of our culture, history, architectural history, or prehistory and to promote the use and conservation of such districts and landmarks for the education, pleasure, and enrichment of the residents of the Town of Carthage and of the State of North Carolina as a whole.
