The Appearance Committee is made up of volunteer members who are appointed by the Board of Commissioners. Members are residents and business owners of the Town and assist with programs related to community beautification and the general appearance of Carthage. The Town of Carthage is committed to preserving its natural beauty and environment and the Appearance Committee is an integral partner in those efforts.

Make a Difference in Your Community!

The Carthage Appearance Committee is looking for dedicated and passionate volunteers to help enhance the beauty and livability of our town. This committee plays a vital role in maintaining and improving the visual appeal of our public spaces, including streetscapes, parks, and other community areas.

We are seeking individuals with a variety of backgrounds and interests—whether you have a passion for landscaping, urban design, or simply want to help make Carthage an even better place to live, your involvement will make a meaningful impact.

Why Volunteer?

  • Collaborate with fellow community members to improve the town’s aesthetics

  • Influence planning and design for public spaces

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Members of the committee shall be persons residing in town, including the extraterritorial jurisdiction, shall be business or property owners in town, and shall be citizens of recognized ability, good judgement and standing

  • Commitment to attending committee meetings (typically once per month)

  • A passion for improving the look and feel of our town

  • No specific experience required—just a willingness to contribute ideas and time

  • Open to all ages and backgrounds

Meeting Information

Meetings are held the second Monday of every month at 5:30 p.m., unless otherwise posted, at the McDonald Building located at 207 McReynolds Street. 

*These dates fall on the 4th Monday of the month.
