Residents

Citizens of the Town of Carthage have an array of opportunities to become involved in the community.

Town Board Meetings are open to the public. Agendas for each meeting are available under the Notices tab. Meetings are scheduled for the 3rd Monday each month at 6:30pm and held at the McDonald Building located at 107 McReynolds Street. We encourage all interested to attend.

Town Planning Board meetings are held the 1st Thursday of each month at 6:30pm in the McDonald Building.

The Historical Committee hosts meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at the Carthage Museum located at 203 Rockingham Street. This group of volunteers work to preserve the vast history of Carthage which can viewed within the museum.

The Appearance Committee tentatively meets on the 2nd Monday of the month at 5pm in the Town Hall conference room. This group of volunteers work very hard each year to provide the beautiful flowers, foliage, and holiday décor around Town throughout the year.

We are grateful for everyone involved and encourage anyone interested to contact us at the Town Hall.

Water bills are posted the end of each month and due by the 25th of the following month. Previous amounts owed were past due after the 25th, if not paid by 5pm on the 5th following the due date, are subject to $50 penalty and disconnection.

Household waste is collected every Monday, regardless of holidays. The only exception would be if Christmas falls on Monday, pickup would be Tuesday. Please make sure all waste is bagged and secured inside the provided receptacle. Bags/items left outside of the receptacle will not be collected. There is a recycling bin located at the back of the Town Hall for all your clean recyclables. They do not have to be separated.

Other items not included in normal household waste (bulk items, oils, paints, grease, etc.) can be disposed of at the Moore County recycling center located about a mile south of our office, 5361 Hwy 15/501.

The Town is working diligently to combat littering on roadways. Most litter is blown, not thrown. Please secure loads in truck beds with tarps, cargo nets, etc. to help keep our roads and Town nice and neat for everyone to enjoy.
