The Carthage Police Department is located within the Carthage Municipal Building located at 4396 US Hwy 15-501, in Carthage. The department is staffed with 10 full time officers, an Administrative Assistant and 6 auxiliary officers.
 
The Carthage Police Department has been committed to community policing and has been presented with several awards:
  • N.C. Governor's Crime Prevention Award for Excellence in Community Oriented Policing 1996, 1997, 1999.
  • N.C. Governor's Highway Safety Program Excellence Award for participation in the Governor's Highway Safety Initiative.
  • County Coordinator for the N.C. Governor's Highway Safety Programs 'Click It or Ticket' and 'Booze It & Lose It' campaigns for years 2001 through 2007.
  • N.C. Governor's Highway Safety Region 7 Law Enforcement Liaison (2007-2008) covering the following 9 counties: Moore, Scotland, Anson, Hoke, Richmond, Union, Mecklenburg, Gaston and Cleveland.
In partnership with these awards the Carthage Police Department offers a wide variety of services to its citizens.
