The Town of
Carthage is currently seeking applicants for the position of Maintenance
Worker/Equipment Operator in the Public Works Department. This position performs a variety of duties
relating to the general maintenance and upkeep of buildings and grounds, the
town cemetery, the water distribution system, the waste water collection and
pumping system, the storm water drainage system, the maintenance of town
streets and yard waste collection.
Ability to follow instructions, safety practices and standard operating
guidelines in performing assigned tasks.
Ability to work effectively with the public and co-workers. Ability to perform heavy manual labor; work
in adverse weather conditions and in confined spaces when required. Valid
Carolina drivers license "C” is required. A high school diploma or ability to secure GED
within one year of employment required.
Requires on call, weekend work and other duties as directed. Must pass drug test prior to employment.
